The most common type of hair loss is the kind that you inherit, called androgenetic alopecia.
In some cases, some people may have other factors contributing to their hair loss. This is the case for patients who have had thick, healthy hair their whole life and suddenly notice it beginning to fall out.
According to experts, sudden hair loss occurs when the cycle of hair growth and shedding is disrupted or when the hair follicle is destroyed and replaced with scar tissue.

- Hereditary
- Age
- Medical conditions such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, lupus
- Thyroid disease is among the many health conditions that include hair loss as a common symptom. Due to thyroid disease being a hormonal problem, if your thyroid gland is overactive or underactive, it could cause your hair to fall out excessively in a pattern or round patches.
